Tessy & Rusty

Tessy had her vet check and all is fine. She now weighs 11.4 pounds; the vet said she probably will not weigh more than 12 pounds, which should be her stable weight.
She sits on command and is just about staying on command, but coming to us is still a problem. She whines and paces a lot and looks like she is frightened. She still wants to run away when we reach for her. She will come and sit with us on the couch without a lot of prompting. The vet said this is a sign she may have been abused, and has lost trust in humans. It may take a while to gain this trust back and soft voices is a plus.
I am socializing her now and she likes to take walks with the other dogs. She is now completely potty-trained and only goes outside or on the grass potty pad we have set up in the dogs' room.
The dogs get along great and no aggressive behavior on anydog's part. She really likes my grandchildren and seems not to mind coming to them or playing with them. She still likes to sleep overnight in her crate, so we have the one in the bedroom that she uses to sleep in.
I had her groomed by a lady in our area who grooms show Cairns. We are stripping her of all the old coat; her underhair was fermenated because of matting. The lady said the consistency of her coat needs to get coarse, so I was taught how to shape her every few days by taking out the long hair. In a few months it should be a true coat, but we are not sure if her beginnings will have changed its thickness.
