MICKY GOES
BACK UP NORT'

3 APRIL 2010

When Holly brought Lucas to his new home,
she brought along Micky; Colleen met her in Chicago
to take him back to Wisconsin.
His luxating patella surgery was successful.

On 11 April,
Colleen writes:

Micky is doing fantastic! He is through his antibiotics & pain medicine; today was the first day that we went to the dog park (one of his favored places). Our rehab has been brisk walks where he uses both back legs to pull me along.

If we go too quickly and he breaks into a run, he hops on that left back leg again; I think this is basically out of habit (he had learned to run on three legs), because when he climbs the hills at the dog park, he uses both back legs to get him there faster.

He is regularly putting all of his weight on both back legs for normal walking and trotting. He is going up & down the stairs just like before the surgery.

He is so cute; he smiles all the time.

He is still really scared of loud noises & strange places, but he is growing out of it every day. Little at a time . . . .

Here is is just ripping his way up the big hill at the dog park.

It was a beautiful day at the dog park!

Hi Mom!

I love this series of him entering the park.
He is running at full speed and so happy about it.
This leg is not slowing him down at all!

Thanks, everyone, for the help on this one.
The surgery really helped him and I appreciate the help!
