On The Back: The Airedale Terrier originated in the Yorkshire area of England during the 19th century. Also known as the King of Terriers, they were bred for otter hunting and were known for being very versatile. Today, Airedales are moslty companion dogs with excellent guarding capabilities. The breed reaches up to 24 in. tall and weighs 45-50 lb. They have a hard, dense, wiry coat that comes in tan with black or dark markings. They are good watchdogs and a popular family pet. Airedales love the outdoors and require a daily walk.
