Thru the past few years,
we've all followed
Libby & Garry's
work with Yogi,
who came to them
with many issues.

It is unfortunate
that I did not write about
nor did I save Libby's posts
about Yogi's "reactiveness",
but their work paid off
and he became a Good Boi!

However,
on 3 February 2024,
Libby writes:

I haven't written about Yogi
because there wasn't
much to say.

The uberexpensive urinalysis for
transitional cell carcinoma markers
was negative.
The tumors are in a bad place
for surgery so we were waiting
a few weeks for another ultrasound.
My vet still thinks that is what he has.

But yesterday he was off;
not perky and, altho he ate,
he wasn't really interested in food.
This morning he was bouncing
and barking and demanding food.
Usual Yo-man.

Until 4 p.m.
He started bugging me,
but I thought it was his
feed-me-early routine.

At 5 p.m.,
I went into the kitchen;
he didn't follow me.
I put his food down;
he didn't even look at it.

When his breathing
became labored,
we were off to the ER.

And that's where we are now.
They called for triage and
he's back with the vets.
I know it's a regular
question at the ER,
but to have to say
"DNR" is heartbreaking.

Fingers crossed I'm
overreacting.

LATER THAT NIGHT:
YOGI R.I.P

ADT

Thanks all, but no amount of zen, prayers or love
could stop the inevitable.

The ultrasound at the ER showed loads of fluid,
and a sample showed blood throughout.

Did one of his tumors burst?
Or cause something else to burst?
Who knows.
He was in pain and it was time to set him free.

Our hearts are breaking for our most difficult,
most reactive and most dearly-loved and
come-a-long-way-to-mellow boy.

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills
for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine
and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:
they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together,
but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.
Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass,
faster and faster. You have been spotted,
and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into those trusting eyes,
so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together . . .
