On 2 March 2024, I write:
Calling on you all for Airedale Zen . . .
Buddy Rusk . . . who can be seen HERE,
has been to THREE vets in the past two days,
and is currently at the ER vet in Waukesha, WI . . .
no clue so far on what is wrong, but Chuck & Jay are very worried.
Please send ADT Zen their way; 'Buddy is our baby',
Chuck told me this morning.
MARE MOORE
in Canada:
Buddy and of course, you & Jay, Chuck, are in our thoughts & hearts.
DEAN INCOPERO:
Sending Zen & prayers to Buddy. Hang in there!
Later that day, Chuck writes:
It appears that Buddy has come down with some rare disease
which affects the joints and was spreading to his jaw.
It's a chronic disease which can be treated with steroids.
JACKIE McGUINNESS
in England:
Sending healing hugs for Buddy.
LIBBY KARIER:
So glad you have a solid (fingers crossed) diagnosis and treatment plan.
Sending Zen for a strong recovery.
On 4 March, Chuck writes:
Buddy has IMPA
(immune-mediated polyarthritis),
which is a chronic condition.
He came home from the vet this afternoon after a three-day stay.
He's usually bouncing around the house;
now he's just crashed out in his dog bed next to me.
It's got me spooked.
Hopefully this isn't the new "normal" for him.
Time will tell.
MARE MOORE
in Canada:
Continuing to send Zen & positive thoughts to you all, but esp. Buddy.
On 14 March, Chuck writes:
Buddy went back to the emergency vet tonight,
as he was getting very lethargic again.
They ran a million blood tests which really didn't show anything
except for his liver enzymes being elevated,
which they say is from the prednisone he's been taking.
It seems that if he isn't taking enough prednisone he starts slipping.
He's going to be five years old on the 24th of March.
He's much to young for this to be happening.
He's brought us so much joy.
NEAL SKRENES:
Sad to hear this.
MARE MOORE
in Canada:
Awww, poor Buddy, still sending Zen & positive thoughts his way &
encouraging vibes for you all.
ELIZABETH WALTERS:
Maureen Scott (@RB) always recommended milk thistle for liver health.
That was when our Magnus was on prednisone.
I hope Buddy improves and continues to bring you joy.
On 26 March, Chuck writes:
Buddy turned five years old Sunday.
Looks like he's stuck with this polyarthritis for the rest of his life.
ANDREA DENNINGER:
Reading the article linked above, I wonder if Buddy can eventually improve
and decrease his medications. We can only hope!
