My little man turns 10 today! I just can't believe it!
About a week before Sidney was born, we went to visit his breeder,
Al Capone of Walnut Ridge Airedales. Al's love of the breed
and of her dogs was evident the moment I met her.
I was tickled pink when, at the end of an hour-long conversation,
she said, "So, would you like one of my puppies?"
We then went home to wait. About a week after Sidney was born,
we started to get weekly updates and pictures.
Larry & I studied the photos daily,
trying to figure out which was going to be ours.
Then, the big day came . . . we brought Sidney, f/k/a Mr. Green, home.
Sidney has brought such joy to our lives over the past 10 years.
He started out more aloof and chill,
but has recently become a bit of a cuddler and a little bit bossy.
He loves a good romp in the snow and
playing with his buddies at the dog park.
He enjoys long walks with lots of sniffing breaks.
He is a master of pee-mail. (Gotta keep up with your homies.)
And, although he hates to be groomed, he loves to be fussed over
afterward for looking so handsome.
I can't say enough about how fabulous this little boy is!

Sidney is having tie-back surgery for his laryngeal paralysis on Thursday.
This will hopefully make it so he can continue to have play dates
and long walks for many years to come.
All the prayers and good thoughts you can send his way
are greatly appreciated.

Sidney's surgery went very well.
Of course, everyone in the vet's office fell in love with him.
He's resting comfortably at home now.
Please give me strength to keep him calm
the next six weeks while he heals.

Sidney is 12 today! I say it every year, but, man . . .
it's so hard to believe my little guy is now the elder statesman in the house.
Sidney is still daily working hard at his excavation sites.
He has not yet reached China as he plans,
so he will not yet retire from the job. LOL!
Multiple times a day, he plays with his toys and his crazy younger brother.
He also enjoys a good butt scratch daily.
Sidney has gotten very bossy in his old age.
I get to hear about it if he feels it's time to get out of
the bed in the morning or if I'm not making his breakfast fast enough.
All-in-all, I would change absolutely nothing.
I love my Sidney to pieces and hope for many more birthdays to come.
