On 13 December, Patricia writes: I'm back to puppy training again and I'm beat from the traveling. The little guy is as sweet as can be and so smart. He's being so good to Zooey. Very gentle around her. He's walking well with leash in two days. Still shy and wary of noises and people, but improving a bit every day. Still can't settle on a name. (HERE is a site of over 200 Scottish dog names.) Bailey is so missed; Tucker is helping heal the hole in my heart. On 14 December, Patricia writes: Only took two days before he's comfortable hanging with us . . . . . . and his name is now DEXTER DECLAN TUCKER. Dex relaxing in his crate . . . Zooey and her "sidekick," Phoebe, sniffing noses . . . (I thought it was the OTHER end they were s'posed to sniff?) Dex & Zooey snoozing together . . . (I guess it doesn't matter which end is sniffed. Looks like they will get along.) On 17 December, Pat writes: I'm working with him on leash training. He's doing really well. He's scared of cars and garage doors. Too loud. He's learned 'sit'. Such a smart boy. He's a real snuggler too. He'll get into bed with me and snuggle into my neck or lie close to me.

Acquiring a dog may be the only opportunity a human ever has to choose a relative.
