A good dog never dies
she always stays
she walks beside you
on crisp autumn days
when frost is on the fields
and winter's drawing near
her head is within our hand
in her old way.

. . . DOLLY, who crossed The Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2007. Mary Gade writes:
Milt & I held our sweet Doll yesterday and sent her to her Maker. My hand was on her heart when the last beat happened. Part of our hearts went with her and life will never be quite the same for us. She was a very important part of our life. She would have been 12 years old today.
I wonder how many times a piece of my heart can be taken before it quits.
I know we will heal, but it is going to be a long time with this one.

Oh, shame on the mother of mortals,
Who did not stop to teach
The sorrow that lies in dear, dumb eyes,
The sorrow that has no speech.
For the same force formed the camel
That fashioned man and king
And the God of the whole
Gave a spark of soul
To each furred and feathered thing.

I'm so sorry to hear about Dolly. I know it would have been a hard decision, but you gave her a home and a special place in your heart; a place she will never leave. You think your heart is broken beyond repair, but it's not; it's just sealed off a little compartment and in time you will open that corner and smile at the memories contained therein.
DEBBIE KARLEY writes:
I am very sad reading of Dolly's passing. I always enjoyed seeing her photos you have shared through the years. What a sweet girl she was.
Please take comfort that she is now with so many other wonderful Airedales at The Rainbow Bridge. One day at a time . . . .
CAROL WALKER writes:
I'm so sorry to hear of beautiful Dolly's passing. What a lucky girl she was to have you in her life.
LESLEY MATTUCHIO writes:
I so second what Debbie said. I know your heart is breaking, but I think for many of us who have been on the Airedale lists for many years it is especially sad when one of the original cast of characters leaves us all. So many Airedales that were so young when we all met in cyberspace and many of us later in reality (like I had the pleasure of meeting you at MCKC seven years ago) have left us and left an empty space in our hearts . . . like Dolly, Debbie's Kugel, my Bonnie, Andréa's Misha & April, Dave's Stevie, Sally's Indy, Shirley's Milo and so many more that are too many (unfortunately) to list all.
doG bless you & Milt & all of us who know the pain of losing our beloved more-than-just-a-dog Airedales. I will give my three an extra hug with thoughts of a memorable and much-adored-by-many Dolly!

ELLANA LIVERMORE writes:
Our hearts are saddened by the news of Dolly's death. We know the awful sadness and also know that it passes to be replaced by laughter & happy memories. Dolly was one of the first 'Airedales' I met many years ago on the lists. At that time we had Teddy and then Rugby, now both gone but not forgotten from our lives.

We will all miss Dolly a great deal. It never gets any easier when one of these fabulous animals chooses to go off on her own journey, leaving us behind.
Our most sincere condolences are extended to the Gade family. We share your loss . . . .
