Artist: Stephanie Coulshaw
Dog's Name: Jake
Media: Patchwork
Other info: Jake was rescued nine months ago. He moved from a downtown apartment to our country home, and my square reflects his new environment. He is now ten years old.
We have thousands of Canada Geese migrating through our area every season, represented by the Flying Geese blocks forming a V. Our property has many pines, so I have Pine blocks on the other two sides. The Maple Leaf is the symbol of Canada where we live, and is for the six sugar maples on our land. Jake likes to invite us for a walk by bringing us a mitt from by the front door, so I drew a Mitt Block. I did a Bone block for the cookies he has at bedtime And, finally we have the geese flying into a heart, to represent how Jake flew straight into our hearts. The heart also represents the love we have for Jake. He is an old darling.
