Dog's Name:  I didn't actually picture any particular Airedale. We've had 45 through the house in the last ten years with our forever dales, our puppy litter and all the rescued sparedales. I suppose I was probably thinking of Radar when I made it, although all of them have done this same thing (TUCKBUTTRUN). Maybe it should be titled Radar, Dusty, Roxy, Leia, Charlie, etc., etc., etc., or how about GENERIC TUCKBUTTRUN.

Media:  Hand & Machine Appliqué; Hand Embroidery

Other info:  I like blocks that have action and I was playing with the TUCKBUTTRUN idea. I didn't think the dog by itself filled up the block. I thought it would tell more of a story and really spell out TUCKBUTTRUN if I could add something else. I played with the back end of a bunny rabbit and then I decided to add a traditional touch with the Overall Sam which is a classic pattern I've had around for about 30 years. It was published by "Aunt Martha", patterns but I think it might be from the 1930's.

I was thinking of my son Josh a lot when I made this quilt. It was a pretty regular sight to see him barreling across the yard doing something while at least one Airedale did TUCKBUTTRUNS around him.

Acknowledgment: This quilt square was created by Carol Schwaderer Dickinson using an original Airedale of her creation running with a boy with balloons from an old Aunt Martha Overall Sam pattern.
