Other info:  I made this square as a tribute to Bonnie who will be 11 years old on May 17,1999. Bonnie is our first Airedale and she has brought so much laughter and love into our lives that I can't imagine life without an Airedale Terrier. The quilt square shows Bonnie in one of her favorite places in the world . . . the beach. She loves to relax in the warm sand and watch the seagulls. Most of all Bonnie enjoys being with "her" family.

Last year a topic on the Airedale list was "The Best Thing About Airedales". I wrote this to express some of the reasons why Bonnie is so special to me.

"THE BEST THINGS ABOUT AIREDALES

The best thing about Airedales is how good they make you feel. They treat you like you're someone important. Even when you have a terrible day, your coworkers may ignore you, your boss doesn't appreciate the work you accomplish, your children don't need you, your spouse doesn't listen, and you're feeling like no one cares. Then, you walk in the door and see that adorable, smiling, furry face and your worries melt away for a little while. Your Airedale thinks you're the most important and necessary person in the world.

Part of their charm is the way they look in their ragged beard and jaunty tail. Mostly it's the way they look at the world and thumb (paw) their noses at anyone who tries to discourage their ambitions. They live their life the way I wish I could live mine. They're trusting, determined, happy, courageous, intelligent, and funny. For a little while each day they make me feel like I'm all those things too."
