Angel likes this lounge chair, just as Emmie did.
Angel will sit with us, anywhere, any time.

3 APRIL:

Every first of the month,
the Skrenninger Pack gets
a Heartgard chewie AND
a sticker on each head
so I know which dog has
had his/her HG chewie.
I leave the stickers on
for however long they last.

Angel is on Sentinel,
so she received neither
a Heartgard nor a sticker.
So she found one on
the floor to wear,
although she didn't
quite get the placement right.

ANGEL AT THE VET

3 APRIL 2018

Angel's first car ride
since she came to us was,
unfortunately, to the vet.

Nonetheless, she rode nicely
in the car, and sat quietly
on my lap whilst waiting
for Dr. Hathaway.

As you can see, I missed
that split second when
Angel was actually looking
AT the camera.

Vet Tech Alex (not shown) immediately fell in love with Angel,
as she (Alex) has a male Westie,
altho her mom claimed him and has him at her house.

[Alex is not shown BECAUSE I COMPLETELY FORGOT
TO TAKE PICTURES! Luckily, SweeTea had a dental appointment
the next day, so I brought Angel along and we staged these pics.
Alex was not on duty, so Matt took her place.]

ANGEL'S PHYSICAL EXAM REPORT CARD

When Angel's blood, urine & fecal exam results come in,
I will schedule a much-needed dental for her.
After only a few days of Surolan in her ears,
I think she can actually hear me, and they don's smell
as bad as they did when she arrived.
Her skin is already improving, with less odor present.

On 6 April, Dr. Hathaway writes:

Glad Angel seems to be improving with her Surolan!
[Yes, Dr. Hathaway reads my fosters' websites.]

Attached are her blood work results.
Overall I have some concerns regarding her cell count primarily.
Remember me showing you her gum color seeming "off".
[It is more orange than pink.]
Well, she has a mild anemia which is "non-regenerative" at the moment.
This means that her body is not properly attempting
to replenish her red blood cell count.

The underlying cause for her anemia has not yet been determined.
The most common reason for a non-regenerative anemia
would be due to chronic inflammation/infection, so best case scenario,
this is a result of her current skin status, etc.

One her blood proteins is decreased as well,
which can occur during an inflammatory state as well.

Ideally I would expect to see improvement
with both of these levels as we address her skin;
however, immune conditions, parasitism, blood/protein loss
are still on our list of concerns and will rise higher on the list
if we do not see the expected improvement
as we continue to treat her skin/ears.

Overall her liver, kidneys, thyroid, urine etc. all look good!

I recommend rechecking her blood work in two weeks
so we can ensure her anemia is not worsening.

In the meantime, monitor her for lethargy,
increased breathing rate/effort and monitor her gum color,
as these are the top things that tend to present/worsen if anemia worsens.
If any of these is seen, please let me know.
