ARCHIE IN WISCONSIN

19 DECEMBER 2021

On 19 December 2021, Andréa writes:

On Friday, 17 December, I received a phone call from my former
vet clinic in Wisconsin, Kenosha Animal Hospital.
I hadn't been there since Janury 2015, but SOMEone remembered
that I worked with Cairn Terrier Rescue . . .
so KAH Receptionist Nancy called to tell me of a seven-month-old
that a client wanted to give up because
"it doesn't get along with the grandkids",
and even tho I was now in Florida, did I still have contacts
in Wisconsin?

Of course I did, so I contacted CRUSA's Midwest Placement Director,
Shell Lewis, as well as Chuck Rusk, who has worked with Airedale Rescue
and, back in 2008, adopted Bear from CRUSA.

After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, and some waiting,
Archie was delivered to Chuck, Jay & Buddy's house today.

Chuck writes:

Buddy led Archie into the house. They sniffed each other and started playing.
They're having a blast playing! They became partners-in-crime in 10 minutes.

THE MEETING . . .

PH

THE GREETING . . .

PH

. . . OK, THEN, YOU'RE A BOYDOG, JUST LIKE ME.

THE FIRST PLAYBOW . . .

Chuck writes:

I've been trying to get a picture
of the little guy's face. So far
he hasn't slowed down long enough.
They've been wrestling
and playing bitey face.

And later . . .

I just had those two out in the back yard.
While Archie is too small to play
tug-o-war with Buddy,
he's not too small to play chase!
Boy, what a blast they're having!

Archie came with his medical records,
food, treats, toys and the toys he was
going to get for Christmas.

PH

C'MON, LET'S PLAY SOME MORE!

CALVIN

Later that evening:

I just used Buddy's brush on Archie and boy did he love it.
He's crashed out next to me in my chair now.
The endorphins must be on overload.
Here's Buddy worn out!

PH

Buddy's met his match!

PH

Unfortunately, this is only a fostering situation.

JACKIE McGUINNESS
in England:
He looks lovely.

Anim

JACKIE IKE:
That is just wonderful! I know it felt good to help that youngster. Great work Andréa, Chuck & Shell. [And Nancy at KAH, too, who actually remembered me and all the Cairns I used to bring in!]

MARE MOORE
in Canada:
Oh wow, that's a wonderful rescue story just in time for the Howlidays! Buddy sure looks like he really likes his new roomie and vice versa. Bless you, Andréa, for your prompt action & knowledge of whom to contact (as usual) & you, Chuck, for taking Archie in even if only temporarily so.

The next morning, Chuck writes:

I had finally had enough at one o'clock this morning, and crated Archie.
Those two Energizer™ bunnies just kept going and going.

Buddy slept outside of that crate last night.
Which shows how I rate. Man's best friend (phooey).

Andréa wants a picture of Archie sleeping. Hah!
The second I open that crate door, he'll be off like a shot again
and those two will be at it again.

I remember when my Casey was chasing Mugs around a corner in the house
and they had a bit too much momentum and took out a closet door.
Did they slow down? Nah! Ah, memories.

Anim

DARLENE BEAUDOIN
formerly of KAH:
Glad to hear the dogs are having a blast! I probably would have crated Archie at 1 a.m. myself! LOL!
