CIRCLE OF LIFE, PART 1
Whilst working on TODAY'S FUNNIES to send out,
a Little Blue Heron walked into the courtyard,
as tho it knew EXACTLY where it was going.
The courtyard is NOT visible from the street,
so I had no idea where s/he was going.
|
Lizards tend to take up residence;
this one lives in the pump room
(pumps for the irrigation/sprinkler
system and the pool).
Now, I can't prove that it's
always the SAME lizard, but I
like to assume it is.
Anyway, there is one that
has maintained residence on the
dining room window screen.
Sometimes, s/he & Gipsy
are nose-to-nose.

|
I don't know how the LBH knew about this lizard;
as I wrote before, the windows overlook the courtyard,
and are NOT visible from the street or the air.
S/He marched right up to the window, jumped a foot or two
into the air, and plucked that lizard right off the screen.
By the time I reached for my camera - VERY STEALTHILY -
s/he had eaten the lizard while behind the bamboo grove
and then walked out so I could take this picture . . .
|
|
S/He then flew up on the wall,
digested for a moment or two,
thought about hopping down to
the birdbath, decided against it,
and flew away.
|
It's never boring, here in my office in front of my computer!
A WEEK LATER, 25 MAY . . .
I guess s/he wanted to see what was available for breakfast;
at 8:00 a.m., s/he came around the corner of the house and
proceeded to walk to the window. I moved; s/he flew away.
There isn't anything available now anyway;
both lizards on the dining room window screen and my office slider are gone.
