First, this funny sent to me by Libby K. . . .

TRAIL

Ever since we moved into this house in June 2017,
SOMEthing's been digging holes in our yards -
front, side and back - looking for who-knows-what.

After Hurricane Irma in September 2017,
we had to remove a humongous oak tree,
replacing it with three Bismarckia palms.

We've not planted any ground cover yet,
so the dirt/sand under them is quite loose.
The hole-digging has become concentrated in that area . . .

One hole was so big, we thought something was living in it.
No matter how many times Neal raked and filled the holes,
in a day or two they would be dug out again.

A lightbulb truly went off above my head:
Attach the trail camera to one of the Bismarckia palm's fronds,
as they are quite stable, fill the holes, and film for a few nights.

Naturally, for several nights, no new holes were dug.
If I'd known hanging a camera outside would keep
whatever-it-was from digging,
I'd've hung it out there sooner,
instead of having it on the dining room table for the past 11 months.

Oh, we had the usual visitors:

Squirrel (several times) . . .

Little Blue Heron (several times) . . .

. . . they are quite rare here because of alligators, hawks and coyotes.
I think I've seen five in the nine years we've lived in FL.
