Seven Wood Storks, one Roseate Spoonbill juvenile, one Great Blue Heron and several egrets

Later, I drove by again, but the storks had flown away,
much to my disappointment, as I intended to come back with my camera
for some better pictures.

Imagine my excitement when, coming around the corner to our house,
I saw this . . .

I quickly put my purchases into the garage,
and yelled for Neal to come out quickly, with his phone!

Some folks think these are ugly, but I like them.
But then, I've been known to park my car to watch
a wake of vultures feeding, so what do I know of beauty.

To quote E.A. Poe: There is no exquisite beauty without some
strangeness in the proportion.

Wood storks are protected as a THREATENED species.
Our first sight of them was a rookery above King's Springs,
while swimming with manatees, years ago.
Which makes me wonder . . . WHY did 11 of these
beautiful creatures decide to come down in that yard?
