In 1991 . . .
. . . in 1994 . . .
. . . and in 2005.
Bob, you are truly one of the most giving souls I have ever met - the essential quality of all those whose careers come to be regarded as one with the Reuther program. You have given counsel, friendship, insight and humor (often - amazingly - all at the same time!). As one of the central spirits of Reuther, another bit of its essence will be missing next year, and with your retirement, the last of the hallway whistlers will be gone - good company, indeed!
Perhaps most selfishly, I will miss the odd book that would surprisingly appear, from time to time, over the past 26 years ("odd" being the operative word in this case). Often it would be for no particular reason, but always with a care & understanding evident in its selection. I have probably never thanked you enough for your kindness - regardless, I'm not giving any of them back!
May your retirement be filled with as much joy as you have brought to so many others. If such be the case, then it will assuredly be grand and only what you deserve.

Bob, I can hardly believe you are retiring. It was only yesterday that we shared the Tremper Library facility when you were working for what was then called "Night School". You were young in mind & spirit then, and you remain so today. That's what I've always enjoyed & admired about you.
You may recall that I'm one of the lucky ones to have some of your original artwork. You created a terrific "SuperWoman" poster for me in the early 70's, and it's been inspiring me ever since!
I wish you all the best in your retirement. You have so many wonderful talents & skills and such an infectious personality. I hope you continue to share all of those things with your family, friends and colleagues. We will miss you.
With warmest wishes,

Bob, Can't believe you're retiring. Going to miss that cheery greeting passing by my desk when you were on you way to see Kathy. You will be truly missed among the throne of librarians in this District.
Best of luck and enjoy the leisure time.
