I do not have the words to describe Bob, nor the words to express how much he means to his school, colleagues & friends. Therefore, like every good librarian, I am cheating . . . Margot Asquith wrote that "there are big men, men of intellect, intellectual men, men of talent and men of action; but the great man is difficult to find, and it needs - apart from discernment- a certain greatness to find him."

Bob, I have been blessed to find that great man in you. Even after thirty years, you have not lost the sparkle and generosity that causes so many students, colleagues and friends to admire you. You have so many gifts and never hesitate to use them to help others. Students and colleagues have felt your kindness and charity; we will all miss you. I can only hope to make the world as beautiful a place to live in as you have.
I hope you have tremendous joy and much happiness in your retirement.

I'm quite new on the scene but I have heard all about you and your work with Andréa. You realise that this is just retirement from getting up and travelling to the same place; it's not retirement from work as you will no doubt find you'll be so busy you will wonder how you managed to fit work in.
Have a long and busy retirement. |

Dearest Pal Robert Anderson,
I must admit retirement is pretty nice. I know you will adjust to being selfish very easily. By selfish I mean, many days you just let things happen. You do things you always wanted to do . . . or do nothing at all. It is an adjustment . . . but a good one. I know everyone will miss you at Reuther and you will miss them also. Just enjoy your new life and what it certainly will hold for you. You deserve some "BOB" time!
Love,

Hi Bob,
I will miss you here. It's so nice to be welcomed in the library by your smiling face! I appreciate your sense of humor and your patience and wish I could have gotten to know you better. What will Andréa do without having anyone to tease!
I wish you well.

I've admired Bob for a number of years from his wonderful Airedale artwork. Andréa has kindly shared some of his work with those of us who are Airedale fanatics, and, as a result, I have become one of Bob's greatest fans. His cleverness and his imaginative drawings make me smile. His talent, indeed, is to be envied! Of course, I know nothing about his being a boss or a colleague, but I would imagine his expertise carries over into other areas.
I send my congratulations and best wishes for a happy, productive retirement.
