Boo

Although he gets tired more quickly, he still can be the life of the party. He was so happy to be home with his foster brothers, he actually jumped straight up & down a few times after he came through the door. I wish I had had my video camera on.

With this latest week stay at the hospital, we have just about used all the money we have received for this little guy.

I will give you an update after the biopsy results when they arrive

On 11 April, FosterDad Andy writes:

CRUSA's vet and the specialist she brought in have diagnosed Boo Boo with a sterile immune disease. It is a clinical diagnosis based on the biopsy taken last week and coupled with the fact that no infections were found. The specialist recommended high dosages of Prednisone, gradually tapering down. She feels that because of Boo Boo's age, he will not have to be on it his entire life and this will be something that will eventually be cured.

Whether this is the cure for sure or not, time will tell but I can tell you - after a hard beginning to the week, he is once again a puppy. This only after a day on the meds.

Earlier this week, he quit putting weight on one of his legs and was limping (the skin in the crotch of the leg was suspected as the cause) . . . he walks & runs as usual now. His puffy, red eyes are now normal. Swelling around his belly is down significantly, but it is really his energy level that is so nice to see again. I know these are what you would expect to see from steroids, but I am hopeful this is the cure.

His sores were already in their normal cycle of healing over after bursting, so I suspect improvement won't be seen there until later. If they don't burst again, which would be the normal cycle, that is when we will celebrate and remove the dreaded cone from his head.

He is drinking a lot and, of course, peeing! In true Boo Boo fashion, however, even though trips are more frequent, he always lets me know when its time to go outside. His appetite has also increased but these steroid side effects, as you know, are expected. (Just to give one more kudos to Boo Boo, this is the only CRUSA dog that Linda has sent me that has not peed in the house! And that is not a knock on CRUSA dogs, it's that my dogs have . . . let's just say . . . "opened the door" for others to pee. How amazing is Boo Boo!)

I will keep you updated. In the meantime, please pass on my thanks to everyone who has donated & prayed for little Boo Boo. He is running around with his foster brother as I write this, and that is his way of saying thanks, too.
