BRUCE GOES HOME!
1 JULY 2017

Ph

Peggy writes:

Bruce has found a furever home with a wonderful previous CRUSA adopter
who adopted a dog named Tiger in 2013 from Bill,
who was fostering him while living in Atlanta;
Tiger sadly died from liver cancer. Michael's other Cairn Terrier (Gracie)
recently passed from intestinal cancer; she was partially blind and diabetic,
". . . so I love caring for those animals
that people usually pass by," said Michael.

Ph

After I talked with Michael last week,
he was so excited to have
Bruce come into his life.
He is already in love with Bruce
and hasn't even met him yet.

Michael is very familiar with dogs
who have health issues and
disabilities and loves their
personalities. So Bruce will be
just fine with Michael,
because Bruce is so smart and
learns his new surroundings quickly.

Don't get me wrong, though,
I'm overjoyed that Bruce has found a loving home,
yet sad that he will be leaving here.
He will take another piece of my heart with him when he goes;
[I am] wondering how many pieces I have left after
all my fosters have gone to their furever homes,
especially the ones that had issues and got over them with love,
patience and obedience training.

Ph

Peggy says goodbye . . .

Ph

. . . and Michael says hello.

But that is what fostering is all about.
It is bittersweet when they leave your house to go to their furever home.

Anim

JACKIE IKE:
Such a good looking pup! Anyone would be so lucky to have him!

Anim

ELAINE ALGER:
How very wonderful for everyone in this adoption story. Blessings to them all.

Anim

BILL SCHUMACHER:
Peggy: My heart broke when I left him with you as well. From a scrawny little guy saved from euthanasia in Greenville, South Carolina to a new loving home in Georgia, he's certainly traveled a long way to his happy ending. The work is always worth the effort, but Brucie was somehow even more special with his trusting and carefree spirit, overcoming blindness and a really rough patch to where he is right now. It's why we do it, right?

Anim

PATRICIA YARNOT:
This is wonderful! Bruce is going to a terrific, loving home with a super daddy! This story made my day!

Peggy writes:

I've cried off and on today. Yes, it is what we do and I love doing it,
but, man, does it hurt when they leave. He is a such sweetheart and,
yes, trusted everything I did to and for him.
Those special needs babies just reel you in like a fish on a hook.
I know he will be taken very good care of,
but that doesn't keep me from missing him so much
and he hasn't even been gone from here seven hours.

I let the dogs out a while ago and they all came back in to eat supper
and I stood at the door and was whistling for Bruce and Charlie;
said their names all in the house. So I cried again.
But I'll be fine, I always am after I hear from the adopters
for the first time after they get home and settled.
Guess it's the mom in me.

Anim

KATHY WALKER:
Oh Peggy, I''m tearing up for you just reading this. I send you a BIG HUG. And I salute you and ALL the other fab fosters who give so much of your hearts to help these doggies. I admire you soooooo much. You are very special people indeed!

And Bill, I never want to miss a chance to thank you for all you do. Not only do you foster, but you fly the skies to help CRUSA Cairns. That really is amazing. And I gotta ask, how is our boy LEROY doing? I just love that guy.

Anim

JEAN LAWSON:
So happy for you Bruce! You look like a sweetheart.

Anim

BOB ANDERSON:
Lucky Bruce & lucky Michae!

BARBARA & DENIS CURTISS

Our donation really comes from our Scottie, Jiggs,
who was rescued from North Carolinea,
so caked with mud they thought he was
a shaggy brown dog. Heartworm posiitive, of course.
He came from a shelter, but we failed the foster . . .
so now we are Scottie lovers

Thanks for coming to the aid of Bruce; our paws are crossed
that his eyes much improve. We look forward to updates.
