BUDDY GOES HOME

Buddy was soon taken to his Foster-To-Adopt (FTA) home. His new humans write:

I believe the boys are reaching an understanding. They were frapping with wild abandon together in the back yard last night - flailing snow and bouncing in the drifts. They both slept in the bed last night. (It's pretty darned crowded.)

Jeff thought he'd lost a glove yesterday until Buddy brought it out. I found a rawhide bone under Jeff's pillow. Other bed pillows have been moved, so I'll have to see what prizes they contain.

Zelda decided she was tired of hiding out. We spent some time last night sitting on the sofa - Jeff with Buddy on a leash and me with the cat. Buddy thinks she's pretty darned fascinating, but he does listen to his uber-alpha people. (OK, Jeff pulls off uber-alpha better than I.)

On 25 February, they write:

The boys had been doing very well - until last night when they had a major brawl. This time green-eyed monster Dudley was the instigator. Both the boys followed me upstairs to the bedroom. Our bedroom and office - both are upstairs - seem to be more Dudley's turf. When Buddy followed us into the bedroom, Dudley turned on him.

This morning, Buddy's still pretty wary of Dudley. We're watching them both like hawks and playing very alpha at the slightest lingering stare. I don't think this will be a big deal to lick. There had been no problems at all for several days. And yes, we're convinced the issues occur only when I'm around. Dudley's very bonded to me.

Buddy's new name is Harry.

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
