FRIDAY, 28 OCTOBER
He had his thrice-weekly SQ fluid therapy infusion this morning,
and an anti-nausea shot (in addition to his usual 1/2 Pepcid),
then I took him for a ride by Lake Tarpon and parked
so he could lean out the window and sniff the lake aire for a while,
sitting on my lap. Then home, where he ate a bit,
so that's a good thing.
In my optimism, I had bought a 12-can case of
K/D chicken stew, which he had been eating;
food he is now turning up his nose at.
Weight:
Monday, 10/24 - 12.6 pounds
Tuesday, 10/26 - 12.2 pounds
Friday, 10/28 - 11.8 pounds
So he's losing almost a half pound every few days.
Meanwhile, his attitude is improving. Go figure . . . .
We took the pics for the 2016 Skrenninger Howliday Card today;
Buddy joined the Pack as Santa's reindog . . .
SATURDAY, 29 OCTOBER
This morning, Buddy didn't greet me with his usual
enthusiasm to GO OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW;
when I stood him up, his back legs wouldn't support him.
A bit of a walk around the outside pen, a healthy p**,
and he was ready to eat. First, a 1/2 Pepcid, then a 1/2 hour wait,
then breakfast.
He ate the pumpkin, the few kernels of food,
and turned up his nose at the K/d chicken stew. Of which I still have 11 cans.
So off to the vet for some cans of K/D beef stew to entice him to eat.
Which he did.
As I may have mentioned, Buddy does not like to be picked up
or to sit on one's lap. I do so anyway,
just to get him used to being touched and loved.
Today, I held him on his back like a baby and scratched his chest.
He stayed on my lap for more than five minutes, eyes closed . . . who knew?
We take things hour by hour, day by day. He will go to the Rainbow Bridge
well-fed and well-rested, cleaned and groomed and,
most important of all, loved . . . and, when the time comes, he will be mourned.
RITA COUGHLIN:
Sweet baby - give him a hug from me, a woof from Robbie, and an ARF! from Goldie. Blessings upon both you and him.
JACKIE IKE:
I hate to say it but his day maybe around the corner.
It's sad to say but he has had a good life it seems.
You have taken over where his human mama could no longer do so.
We all will have our day. I hope he improves!
BOB ANDERSON:
I don't know which I like better: Your tooth or that Buddy is getting the love he so deserves!
ELAINE ALGER:
The old dogs just get into my heart and soul. When the time comes, the little dog can continue his journey knowing he has been loved and found peace.
BETSI GREENE:
He will certainly be mourned but, more importantly, loved - you have given him the best possible at this point.
MARILYN ROYLE:
Thank you for all that you are doing for this little guy. He is so fortunate to be with you and your family. So much love there É. I know he will live out his life the way he has always deserved to live.
ROBYN STINE:
My heart hurts for you both, but your arms are where he belongs and seems to be at peace in.
SHELL LEWIS:
He is so lucky to have you in his life. You are a gift to him.
Actually, all those who have shown concern for Buddy,
and have donated to his caire, are a gift to him!
ANITA CHAROCHAK:
This really tugs at my heart. Such a sweet face. Please give him some love from my crew.
