BUDDY EATS!

10 -13 NOVEMBER 2016

What I've been enticing Buddy with . . .

Ph

Kibble from the other dogs and Royal Canin K/D kibble
(I gave up on the Science Diet K/D kibble).
Three flavors of canned food: Salmon, chicken & beef.
Maybe a few bits of kibble here, a lick of the canned food there,
but nothing I would consider a meal.

Jackie had suggested chicken and rice; since that is protein,
I didn't think that would be a good idea.

On Friday morning, after Buddy's infusion,
Dr. Hathaway ok'd the chicken and rice;
better SOMEthing than NOTHING, she figured.

As many of you know,
my favorite (and only)
cookbook is a menu,
so I'd no idea where
to even START cooking this.

I asked Jackie, who generously
made some nice soft chicken
and rice, then brought it over
on Saturday morning.

Ph

Daisy & SweeTea
are members of the
Team of Greeters
and have to get in
on the action, too.

Ph

Jackie tries to avoid SweeTea's
rambunctiousness . . .

Ph

. . . while Daisy tries to convince Jackie that
NO ONE pays any attention to her . . .

Ph

. . . which Jackie doesn't believe for a second.

Ph

(I eventually did put Heather & SweeTea in their crates,
as they would NOT leave Jackie or Buddy alone!)

Then it was time for
the chicken & rice . . .

Ph

THE

. . . which he did! Licked that bowl clean.

See? Wasn't that easy?
He was really hungry!

So we sit and chat a while in the living room;
Buddy is on the couch with Jackie for a few minutes . . .

Ph

. . . but then, he jumps off and ASKS TO COME UP ON MY COUCH.
He's never done THAT before.
He slept next to me for over an hour.

One more small meal before Jackie leaves . . .

SO FAR on the other couch
that she almost falls off.

MUTTS

At 6 p.m., he ate another small meal. I was very optimistic.

Anim

PATRICIA YARNOT:
I am so happy to hear this . . . no matter who did the cooking. Wonderful News!

Anim

ELAINE ALGER:
So glad he ate the chicken and rice. Warms your heart when he does well, doesn't it. The old ones just become a part of one's heart and soul.

Anim

DR. HATHAWAY:
Yay!! Glad he ate so eagerly! His interest in home-cooked diets may come in handy if we have to make him a home-cooked kidney diet.

Anim

JUDY JOHNSON:
Yea!

Anim

PATRICIA YARNOT:
Three angels looking after Buddy. You, Jackie and his owner who passed. What a story you have to tell. Wonderful news!

SUNDAY, 13 NOVEMBER

Aaaaaand this morning, he shows no interest in food whatsoever . . .
had some dire rears and spent the day in his bed,
wrapped up like this . . .

Ph

In the evening, he did eat some of the chicken,
but said NO THANKS to the rice.

Tomorrow, he will be going in for another infusion and, I hope,
the results of the blood test taken on Friday.
We shall see what happens next . . . Stay Tuned!

Anim

JACKIE IKE:
I love you Buddy . . . . If it's your time . . . you will not be alone . . . but we will do whatever we can to keep you here a little longer . . . IF . . . you want!

Anim

BJ ISAACS:
Totally agree, Jackie!

Anim

JUDY JOHNSON:
Prayers for Buddy and you as you go moment to moment.
