Ok. I had the talk with Henry.
He's fine with us adopting Buster as long as it happens
after our trip to the Galapagos (last day of May to June 9).
I can keep him here until we leave if that's all right with both of you,
then Andréa, if you'd keep him while we're on our trip.
We have a great house/dog sitter, but I don't want BB
to have to get used to another person, plus a new dog takes
so much more watching around open doors and outside.
Henry feels like The Galoot fits in well with our two.
BB looks up to Booker and does what he does and
Booker is acting like a goofy teenager around him.
Zooey doesn't care, but she does go up to him to sniff and tail wag.
No growls or fights. Let's just say Henry isn't thrilled yet,
but he's seen the way BB has responded to me and how easy he is to train
(not saying it will be this easy all the time).
And it's so nice to not have a quiet home again.
BB is enjoying himself here. Walks, car rides, visits,
spending time exploring the yard, lazing around on the couch.
We can't wait to see what his true personality is going to be.
After three years with us, Booker is still blossoming
as is Zooey, with us six years.
3:27 p.m.:
Since we talked Henry has really warmed up to Buster,
but he wants to rename him. I've been going through names
and Henry really likes Bailey. It's a bit softer
and more suitable for the boy. BB is already responding to Bailey.
Can't believe this . . .
It was just for a weekend visit . . .
Andréa put a spell on me . . .
No, I wanted him . . . .
Neal Skrenes writes:
From what I've read and seen it appears to be a good fit for you all.
To which I reply:
Most of the time we were in the yard on Friday,
he wanted to sit on HER lap, not mine; he followed HER around, not me.
I guess he did the adopting . . . .
And Patricia adds:
That's the really weird part of this whole weekend.
It's like he came, he saw, he decided to stay.
Now Andréa will always be able to have contact with her Big Galoot.
8:20 p.m.:
Bailey (f/k/a Buster) spent three hours out in the yard with all of us today.
He lay on my lap a third of the time.
He started following Booker while he was exploring and
then went out into the yard on his own for the rest of the time,
coming back to check on us or if I whistled.
Of the toys I've offered, he likes the chew bones best,
but I don't have any stuffed animals. Zooey rips them apart.
Henry has really warmed to Bailey;
he did name him as Bailey needed a better name.
Two and one-days days and there is still a calm here.
Bailey has filled a hole in all four of our hearts.
I CAME for a visit. I SAW they needed me. I CONQUERED their hearts. Mission accomplished.
He is already responding to Bailey.
Of course he would respond to anything, as long as he was called
[his coloring is Baileys Irish Cream, too].
8:40 p.m.:
He's on the back of the couch with his head on my shoulder.
Zooey is under him on the couch.
Never ever had a new addition act this way or be treated this way.
Waiting for the other shoe to drop . . . .
8:51 p.m.:
Oh, and he is a chow hound!
Henry was in the kitchen fixing a snack.
Bailey's head whipped up from the living room floor and he shot into the kitchen.
He runs to the kitchen every time we go there.
No wonder he was so fat.
He was fed lots of people food.
I weighed him on my scale. He was 20-1/2 pounds.

A momentous day - congrats!
MARY BRABENDER:
What a wonderful story and pictures. Keep on doing rescue work since there are so many truly in need of a safety net and loving home. The pictures tell the whole story.

First, YIPPEE for everyone! I'm so thrilled. I was so hoping
and our fingers, toes, eyes crossed helped! I think BB knows he is home. They do pick you.
Congrats to Andréa on saving him and for getting Pat to babysit him for the weekend.
Sneaky woman, I was hoping this would happen. I'm so happy for Pat, family and Bailey!
