THE CAPTAIN PLAYS! 6 AUGUST 2021

Sue writes: He has his appetite back pretty much. Sometimes I still need to hand feed him in the mornings. He still chews on himself but not nearly as much. His hair is starting to fill back in. His skin isn't stinky any more and feels nice. The infection in his eyes has totally cleared up. His resting respirations have gone from 24 to 18 so I'm very excited about that. His cough has improved since he is back on the prednisone. He loves being with the Westie girls! And he is attached to me. He stands outside my shower and whines and cries till I get out of the shower. It wasn't on his papers from the shelter, but he is totally deaf. He's doing awesome, but he still is extremely fearful of sudden moves and new people. Video HERE is of Rex and my little Dolly (Dolly is only ten pounds but she is extremely big on westietude!). Rex has been so playful the past few days. He also started jumping up on the furniture yesterday, which I wouldn't mind but I'm trying to keep him as inactive as possible. Both good signs that he is feeling really good, but of course I can't let him get too active because of his heartworm status. What a shame he has the heart worms and can't play to his heart's content. Such an improvement, though, for a little old sick dog whose intake papers said he could barely walk due to pain.
