. . . preparing to take Charlie out to potty.
I've noticed his feet get cold quick; he starts to sit down
and I quickly swoop him up and bring him back in.
Not sure how much more winter I can take!

He had that kennel/shelter smell
and it was driving me nuts;
I couldn't stand it anymore,
so Charlie got a bath Saturday.
Found out my hair dryer died,
so didn't see what
he thought of that.

Here's a clean fluffy pup . . . .

HERE is what he's thinking.

On 28 January, Andréa writes:.

I took Charlie in to meet Dr. Carlisle,
who did wonders with Rosie and operated on Heather last month.
Charlie charmed the entire Kenosha Animal Hospital staff
with his kissed, tail wags and alert looks!

Looking at his x-rays, Dr. C thinks that surgery on the hip
should wait for a little bit. The reason being that the femur breaks
are already calcifying/healing on their own
(not perfectly; they should have been pinned immediately).
If Charlie's hip becomes immobilized too soon,
he'll put his weight on the other leg,
with the chance of re-breaking it if it isn't strong enough.

He will go in for another looksee on Wednesday, 5 February.
Meanwhile, Charlie is on Tramadol, Rimadyl & Gabapentin,
and seems to be in no discomfort at all,
the few times Katie allows him to walk.
He does have a bit of a "hitch" in his leg, but no pain.

Oh yes - when the hip surgery is done,
he will be neutered at the same time.

We don't yet have an estimate of the cost;
we thank everyone for your generous donations.

All this cold air, bathing and traveling to the vet make me very tirezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz . . . .
