AT HOME WITH CHLOE,
DAY 2
21 JUNE 2016

Chloe spent part of the night on the floor by my bed,
and part who-knows-where.
She was diapered, so she was allowed free run/sleep of the house;
the diapers were again dry this morning.

SweeTea finally did the unthinkable -
got on Chloe's nerves with her pick pick pick pick pick . . .
and Chloe PICKED BACK. No blood drawn,
just a lot of sound and fury, signifying . . . not a helluva lot.
BUT SweeTea has finally taken the 'hint' and is leaving Chloe alone.
For certain values of 'alone'.

(Rico is also annoyed with this, but he won't do anything about it;
instead, he's moved out of the house and into the garage . . .
a sort of self-imposed exile.
He comes in when it gets too hot, but he prefers solitude in his old age.)

In other news, after ONE DAY of watching the Skrenninger Quartet Plus 1
get its early morning whipped cream, Chloe walked right over,
joined the semi-circle of dogs and sat down for her portion.
BEST training aid ever!

Peggy the Groomer should be calling me back today so we can get Chloe
looking more like a Cairn and less like a ball of black fur -
it's cute, but with the temps in the 90s, she has to be HOT HOT HOT.

She is a squirrel- and lizard-chaser and one of those dogs
that thinks BARKING at her prey will bring it closer.
I'll soon convince her otherwise, as I did with Daisy
(and Sarah Sutcliffe when she stayed at our WI house).
She has already stopped barking from INSIDE,
so that's a step in the right direction.

As both Sadee & Chloe will be in residence for some time,
I purchased an engraved tag for each dog.

For some reason, Chloe decided THIS was a better way
to sit on the chair and watch for squirrels & lizards . . .

(Note that it's the BACK
cushion she's sitting
and lying on.)

She really is an amusing dog.

BJ ISAACS:
Your house sounds like mine, lol

NEAL SKRENES:
So Chloe is a pretty quick study and willing to step up and defend herself (or express herself). Good for her and what a shock for SweeTea.

Sounds as though you'll be pretty busy.

PATRICIA YARNOT:
It's fortunate that you have a pack that helps the fosters integrate into the household.

Yes, whenever a new foster comes in, it's,
Howdy, welcome to the Skrenninger Kennels.
Choose a bed or a crate; breakfast is at 6 a.m., dinner is at 6 p.m..
The only treat you'll get is a shot of whipped cream.
And Momma don't allow no lip-raisin' here.

At times, tho, it's like herding c*ts; I bring one dog inside,
and four others slip outside.
