Then we found CRUSA! We were amazed at the number of abused, neglected & puppy mill Cairns in need of homes. We found the girl for us (don't remember her name), filled out the paperwork and within 24 hours we were contacted by Shell Lewis, who was great!

Unfortunately, the dog we picked was spoken for, but Shell told us about two young females that just came in from the Thorp Auction in Wisconsin. She sent us pics; now we had to decide which one we were going to adopt. Art wanted one; I wanted the other. So that's how we ended up with both; we didn't want to separate them 'cause it seemed that having each other was the ONLY good thing in their lives.

All our furry kids on the 4th of July
Well, our whole process for adoption was done in less than a week; we were lucky that everyone responded quickly. So on Good Friday 2009, we headed out to Sue Stoughton's house to pick up our girls! Our hearts just broke when we saw them, they were so broken . . . your basic puppy mill story.

The ride home; they look so proud!
That was April 2009; two months later, we were called by Gayle Kiesow, and asked if we could help out and get Molly. Why not; Cairns are like potato chips: you can never have too many! That's where it all began and we have been fostering and helping out any way we can since. I will say that it's one of the BEST things Art & I have ever done; we wouldn't change a thing!
