NOW PLAYING: WATERMARK, Version 3 Enya SUE COULSON: I've been watching the emails about Eileen. I didn't know her but have read about her on the various emails on CRUSA. Yes, I'll say a prayer for her. But, knowing that she has had a debilitating struggle, I am happy to hear that she has finally been released from her struggles and crossed the Rainbow Bridge to heaven and been reunited with so many who predeceased her. Surely, those who judge the deceased will see the love & care she lavished on those who were denied on earth and will escort her & her companions across the Bridge to a happier & loving place in eternity. ANNE GREGORY-COLE: While I don't have any stories about Eileen, only that I enjoyed her posts here, I am moved to say something. When I pass from this world, I hope that there will be a group of people who have been touched by my life as Eileen has done with this group. What a moving testimony to her life for you all to be involved in rescue BECAUSE of her or have your children BECAUSE of her. Really amazing. Let us think of her family who may always have a difficult time during Holy Week because of this. I give thanks for her life and her work in saving lives. Thanks to all of you who do so as well. We won a plaque last year for the largest church group and plan to win this year. So sorry to hear about her passing. PAM SIMPSON: I wish I had known her. I only hope & pray that the Rainbow Bridge story is a reality and that the Rescuer's story is as well. If so, Eileen was met by not only those she loved that have passed on, but also a HOST of doggy angels! PATTI SUNDLING: It is with tears in my eyes that I am sending this reply. I was one of the lucky people who got to meet & know Eileen. She was truly a wonderful woman and would do anything to help anyone out without question. Eileen was my Rosie's Foster Mom for four months; through that adoption we became friends as well. Eileen had a huge heart and was an easy woman to love. She will be deeply missed by many. There is one special Angel in the Heavens now. Photo courtesy of Violetta Argueta Holding Foster Teddi, later adopted by Patti MICHAELANN FLORIMBIO: I am sorry to hear of Eileen's passing. May God bless all of them. MARLENE: I never knew Eileen, but I am sure as she was a part (and a very big part, I see) of CRUSA, she must have been a remarkable woman. My heart goes out to her family and everyone at CRUSA for this loss. JODI: I am so sorry to hear about Eileen. I had the pleasure of meeting her at Cairnfest and she was one fantastic lady. Sending my sincerest condolences to her family. LINDA SAVAGE: I met Eileen through CRUSA and I got to really know her when I became the Placement Director for the NE. She & I would talk at least once a month on the phone. My husband, Herb, flew to Chicago and met Eileen & Stephen, her son, at the airport to pick up Robbie & Gus. Gus became my foster dog and later I adopted him. Eileen was so happy that I did. Stephen takes Gus out of his crate 23 March 2005 Photos courtesy of Linda Savage Eileen holds Nuggett Whenever Eileen would call and Herb would answer the phone, they'd talk about the BEARS or CUBS depending on the season. I really miss my monthly talks with Eileen, but I am so glad that I got to talk to Eileen before she passed away. She sounded so happy & upbeat and counting the days to Stephen's upcoming wedding. She will be truly missed by all. Photo courtesy of Violetta Argueta With Stephen and his Foster, Duke JIM & MARGARET KUCHENREUTHER: Please accept our condolences on the loss of Eileen. She must have been an extraordinary person. This is a very difficult time for all of you. We first started our journey last fall with the Cairn Terrier Rescue Organization. We now have our new member, Ollie. We both were so impressed with the organization and especially all of the volunteers. Eileen will be blessed in heaven for all the time and love she gave to animals in desperate need. We will keep Eileen, you and your family in our prayers. SHELL LEWIS: If I had a CRUSA mentor, "Miss E" was certainly it. She was my only other connection here in the Midwest when I first joined CRUSA and I think we made a pretty good team. She loved being online and reading all the applications, but hated talking to the applicants. I loved calling the applicants, so I would do that part of it and then report back to her. She really helped me wade through all the "ins and outs" of rescue work in those early days, for which I'll always be immensely grateful. We had some great phone conversations and she so loved talking about her son, Stephen, of whom she was immensely proud. Ironically, we only met in person a few months ago when Skippy & Molly & I went to visit her in the nursing home. While she seemed happy to meet me, it was the dogs who made her face light up. She couldn't get enough of them. Photos courtesy of Diane Gaul With Ainsley Gaul With Debbie Hodgens EILEEN ERVIN: My thoughts and prayers go to her family. KIM GROSSMAN: Eileen Czablewski was an incredibly caring person who gave unshelfishly and graced everyone's life she touched. It was a privilege to have met her and known her for the short time that I did. May God bless her memory and her family. THE REASON I would've died that day if not for you. I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes. I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands. I would have left this life believing that all humans don't care Believing there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted, skin that isn't flea-bitten, good food and enough of it, beds to sleep on, someone to love me, to show me I deserve love just because I exist. Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands Your big heart saved me . . . You saved me from the terror of the pound, Soothing away the memories of my old life. You have taught me what it means to be loved. I have seen you do the same for others like me. I have heard you ask yourself in times of despair Why do you do it? When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little tighter Make just a little more room . . . to save one more like me. I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes In the best way I know how Reminding you why you go on trying. "I am the reason." The animals before me are the reason . . . As are the ones who come after . . . Our lives would've been wasted, our love never given We would die if not for you. -- Author Unknown Photo courtesy of Violetta Argueta & Diane Gaul With Violetta's Mother, Liberty CairnFest 2005 Continue With EILEEN CZABLEWSKI IN MEMORIAM HERE
