6 MAY
AFTER A SWIM

After our second time at the beach, Rosie is so exhausted,
she stays on my lap and actually falls asleep,
something she would never do otherwise.

If puppymill records are to be believed, Rosie turns 18 years of age on 10 May

DAISY IS SCALPED

FLORIDA

A problem we have in Florida
is that no one will groom
the Skrenninger Quartet;
they are not vaccinated
except for rabies,
and anyone I contact
insists on at least
Bordatella vaccination.

So . . . we decide to groom them ourselves.
Rather, I buy the equipment and set up the table; Neal does the clippering,
altho I do their heads with scissors and thinning shears.

Here is our first project; Daisy is the most difficult to groom
because she has several textures of hair, including a thick,
but fluffy undercoat. It takes hours for her to dry,
so a shave will stand her in good stead when we go to the beach.

BOOKCASES

FLORIDA

A house is not a home
without a bookcase, or two.
So back to Big Lots,
whose furniture is fine
for a vacation home,
to buy two five-shelf bookcases,
which Neal puts together
in an hour or so.
Now all we need is
some books . . .
all of mine are still
HERE.

My plan is to put two
three-shelf bookcases
next to these, leaving room
in between for a standing
lamp with reading lamp,
and a reading chair in front of that.
From this angle,
a reader can see most
of the backyard,
so can watch for birds, too.

I found these two prints: A great blue heron facing right . . .

. . . and a sandhill crane facing left . . .

. . . to hang above the three-shelf bookcases.
So, in effect, this is still a media room; the media is now print.
