14 MAY FLORIDA'S THREATENING WILDLIFE This little guy is threatening another one in the dog pen, more than 20 feet away, who is threatening him right back.
18 MAY SMELLY FRANGIPANI These have to be the ugliest trees I've seen. They are plumeria, also known as frangipani. (Plumeria flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure sphinx moths to pollinate them. The flowers have no nectar, however, and simply dupe their pollinators. The moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar.) FINALLY, the ones in the front blossomed, and I was able to experience the scent first hand or, I should say, first nose. Imagine the most potent, obnoxious old-lady perfume you've every smelled, and you'll have an idea of what these flowers smell like. They will be pulled or dug out when the landscaping is being done. These are the flowers used in leis, or worn behind a woman's ear to indicate marital status (or lack thereof). The smell would give me a migraine! If you know anyone who wants some frangipani trees, let me know HERE; we have some even larger ones in the back. 22 MAY OUR FIRST NON-RELATIVE VISITORS! Charlotte brought a Welcome to Florida gift of a pink flamingo planter . . .	As usual, Daisy2Legs charmed everyone; Pat wanted to take her home

Neal's nephew, Noah, his wife Holly & daughter Presley live about 40 miles south of us. Their subdivision has Sandhill Cranes; this is what can happen . . .
Can Presley come out to play?
On our visit on 30 May, we heard but did not see them. Maybe next time!
