Three months in Florida,
and I've been completely surrounded by NO ALLIGATORS!
(Do you wonder where that phrase comes from?
KEEPING UP APPEARANCES' bone-idle character, ONSLOW,
uses it HERE, and we've adapted it.)
Today, thanks to Patricia and
TARPON TURTLE GRILL & MARINA, I see two!
Where we sat . . .
What a delightful restaurant; right on Lake Tarpon
(we ate on the deck, of course);
Key West style architecture, ambience & food . . .
and the first song played when I sat down was
It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere . . .
well, how could we go wrong?
They also played Zac Brown's
Where the Boat Leaves From,
Garth Brooks' Two Pina Coladas,
The Beach Boys' Kokomo,
and so many others we listen to,
as well as Otis Redding's Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay, a fave of mine.
What we saw . . .
How was the food? you ask.
Well, let me tell you: pulled pork tacos, fried plantain and
a dessert we not only split, but each take home enough for dinner
(or, in Patricia's case, her hubby Henry) -
bread pudding with carmelized brown sugar, bananas and
I don't know what else, topped with whipped cream.
Altho I often say, "I'll eat anything while
I'm sittin' overlookin' water",
the food is above and beyond my expectations.
And yes, Virginia, there ARE alligators in Lake Tarpon;
two join us for lunch, swimming by and then. just. hanging.
waiting for folks to disregard the
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ALLIGATORS
sign and give 'em something, anything to eat!
Just driftin' by . . .

And where is my camera? Safe and sound at home . . . .
During our three-hour conversation, I discover
that Henry's son, Brad, builds pools and birdcages,
so I'll have him come over to see if my pool dream is feasible.
A Florida "bird cage"
But not 'til all this dental work is done . . . one project at a time!
