LACEY GAINS
SOME COURAGE!

18-22 JUNE 2008

On 18 June, Gayle Kiesow writes:

Huge progress with Lacey today, made my heart swell and tears fall . . .

As she headed for the flowerbed mulch area she has claimed as her own (two new plants are now dead), I said, very gently, "No, Lacey" AND she listened to me. Dang!

She stayed put in the grass and I went up on the deck to take care of the bird feeders,

I got busy and the next thing I knew she was standing at the side of the deck watching me and when I talked to her she tried to come up, where there were no steps. So I showed her the steps, turned my back again AND up she came. She wanted to be with me. WOW, tell me that is not major.

Then I held the door open to the porch and continued to talk very sweetly to her and darned if she did not come onto the porch under her own steam. WOW!!!!!!!!

Later today, I had to help her onto the porch area, then I went on into the family room. She could not see me and she came into the family room. WOW!!!!

Color me happy and excited!!!!!!!!!!!

Later that evening:

As I am emailing you, Lacey is sneaking in the patio door from the porch into the family room where I am sitting. Earlier this p.m., I dropped my flip flops off my feet while I was sitting. She immediately got out of her bed and came over, picked up one of them, took it back to her bed and laid it down, then chose to lie behind the bed next to the house. I am thinking she needs something to call her own.

Oops! She made it halfway in and now she is gone again.

19 June:

Lacey actually galloped a little bit in the back yard this evening and her tail wagged a little bit. She was a happy girl for awhile. Good girl, Lacey!

20 June:

Lacey was galloping around the yard this a.m. with me, actually lay down and rolled for me to rub her tummy. Tail wagging, [she] actually looked like a real dog until Mollie got excited with the activity and wanted to play and barked at her. Progress . . . each day, more progress.

Friday

Mollie shares her couch with Lacey

22 June:

Early this a.m., Lacey was having a great time in the yard, lots of energy for this ol' girl; nice to see her moving and tail wagging.
