Thirteen-year-old Hershey
Three-year-old "Briggsie"
Hershey and Briggs are the Canine Companions of Dan, who moved from Rhode Island to Florida. Hershey is over 13 years old and was originally from Rhode Island. Perhaps he thinks Briggs is just a before-dinner snack.
At three years old, Briggs is no longer a small edible bite for Hershey, but, as Dan says, "the best dog I ever had, typical Airedale though; she is a clown and her energy is endless," even with an on-going case of puppy mange. You just can't keep an Airedale down!
Here is a limerick Dan wrote about Briggs:
I have an Airedale named Briggs
And here is the one he wrote about Hershey:
My other dog is Hershey
Houses are for private living, for friends, and for dogs.
And in this house, the dog's place is on the couch!
Every secretly wonder what your Airedale looks like, under all that hair? Well, this is it. Briggsie has Demodectic Mange, which is an immune deficiency problem. Back in January 1995, she was completely shaved as a beginning of her treatment, being dipped in Mitaban. Dan has since found that homeopatic medicine works much better -- and is much safer for everyone and everydog.
One of the residents that Briggsie and Hershey have to put up with in Dan's house is Geisha the c*t (@RB). It looks to me as though Briggsie is just waiting for Dan to leave the room so she can start a little ruckus with Geisha.
The picture of puppy innocence!
When Briggsie goes exploring . . . Hershey cleans up whatever falls to the floor. What a team!
To see what Dan does when he's not working, writing limericks, winning at Bingo,
On 18 November 1998, Dan writes: "Hershey is in heaven now. I gave him one last meal (his favorite thing) and now he all right."
I explained it to St. Peter,

(gr)eeting new puppy Briggs
March 1994 - Tampa, Florida
Her eyes are full of tricks
Although a bit deranged
Since I cured her mange
She showers me with licks.
When I'm gone he gets edgy
But when I come home
I have to leave him alone
Because the other dog's mangy.

flirting with ladies with Poodles, or taking Briggs to the park,
visit Danno's Flying Colors.
Perhaps someday we'll read all about Briggsie flying an airplane!
I'd rather stay here,
Outside the pearly gate.
I won't be a nuisance,
I won't even bark.
I'll be very patient and wait.
I'll be here chewing on a celestial bone,
No matter how long you may be.
I'd miss you so much, if I went in alone,
It wouldn't be Heaven for me.
