On 17 June, Mary writes:

Milt & I held our sweet Doll yesterday and sent her to her Maker. My hand was on her heart when the last beat happened. Part of our hearts went with her and life will never be quite the same for us. She was a very important part of our life. She would have been 12 years old today.

I wonder how many times a piece of my heart can be taken before it quits.

You were with us from the first when we got that little stinker. I know we will heal, but it is going to be a long time with this one.
