3 June: Bella was spayed yesterday. They want to keep them all night now, but I wanted to bring her home as opposed to lying in a crate in an empty vet office all night, so they let us get her about 6 p.m. just before they closed. She immediately peed & pooped; what would she have done at the vet? Hold it, I'm sure, which I'm opposed to. Surely that would have added to her pain. She did throw up a couple of times, but she always moved off the carpet (surely she's confused!). She slept on her sofa, we started out today with yogurt & ice chips and moved to small meals of dog food. We just drove across town on errands and she did fine going with us. We're crating less & less and I'm attributing it, maybe incorrectly, to Camp Bow Wow because she has ample opportunity to "be a dog" there. I never thought I would let a dog of mine do that, but it's really great. I watch her roughhouse with everyone! They love her, of course, and say she enjoys every minute she's there! We start a four-week clicker class on Tuesday. 4 September: Baby Bella after her grooming a couple of weeks ago. I still call her little but she's not really, just littler than our others. She weighs about 50 pounds. She's acting like a naughty adolescent - snatching things and chewing things she shouldn't, all the while looking at me with those big brown eyes. She has a way of looking up with her eyes, keeping her head straight, and you see the whites of her eyes on the bottom - I can't resist her when she does that!
