Spike is the Airedale who started it all for Shirley, a member of the ADTHome Lit. Spike was born on 13 February 1983 and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on 13 January 1995.

"Hi! I'm Otis. I live with my younger brother Milo and our good Mom in Delaware. We came from Bristol Aires of Canandaigua, New York. I am four months old here."
"This is my little brother, Milo! We both have the same DogMom. Milo is four months old here."
"I have been to Kindergarten and First and Second and Third Grade. This is my Graduation Picture."
	"After Graduation, I was allowed to go into Agility. It was so much fun!"
"I needed all my schooling because I had to teach this little guy everything - from the rules of the house to mole hunting."
"The most difficult task was getting Milo into his pool. But look! I succeeded!"
LIFE'S A BEACH "Sure is! Now, let's see - what shall I do today? Roll in some fish? Drink some saltwater? Roll in the sand? All of the above?" "Hoooooooome? Did you say, 'Let's go hoooooome'? But I haven't had any fun yet!"
A DOG FOR ALL SEASONS That's the Airedale! "Milo grew up to be a very special guy. I'm quite proud. But he is now just a little bigger than me! I'm still boss!"
On 20 December 2006, Shirley writes: My Boy Milo is gone The love of my life, my heartdog, my buddy, all rolled into one pile of fur is gone. I've been sitting here typing and crying and typing and crying. Milo had degenerative Mylopathy. We were just told that he had gained eight pounds and his bloodwork was fine on Monday. We thought sure he would be here for my birthday, Otis' birthday, Christmas & New Year's. But the disease went to his lungs overnight and he is gone. My vet has been wonderful, he has explained everything to me over and over, hoping to get through the tears. Milo started breathing funny an hour after I got home last night. He still ate dinner, slept with me, but was breathing slightly harder this morning. He fell down. My friend came over and we were on the way to the vet when Milo lifted his head from his favorite spot in the back of the van as if to say . . . Bye Mom . . . gotta go . . . and he closed eyes without flinching and was gone. My friend cried. . . Oh my God I think he stopped breathing.. and he was gone. I've cried all day, talked to the vet repeatedly; he explained everything over & over. He said my gift to Milo was taking the very best of care of him . . . Milo's gift to me was to go on his own without that dreadful office visit. I guess the disease finally reached the nerve endings in Milo's lungs. Thank You so much to Evie Fiesler, Sally Schnellman & Christine Sheffer for getting Milo a wheelchair to use. This enabled him to go on a one- to two-mile walk every day, to go see Santa, ride the tram to see the Christmas lights, go to the beach, etc. Without you, his life would have been nothing for the past eight months. I am trying to calm down and focus on Otis. We need each other now. I am lucky we were able to take Milo to the funeral home this morning and after Otis said his goodbyes, they cremated Milo and I was able to bring him home right away. That is helping as Milo was never away from Mom even for a night. We have his ashes here already Milo was my heartdog. I will never forget him and there will never be another. Just wanted everyone to know to look for that bright bright star tonight.
