NOW PLAYING: [GIGI] THANK HEAVEN FOR LITTLE GIRLS MEET GIGI! JANUARY 2007 On 16 January 2007, Sylvia writes: Ok . . . never say never, but I have another Westie . . . . Nine years ago I was to get a little female Westie puppy (Gigi), but at the last minute the breeder (a friend) decided to keep Gigi to show her. Six months later, the show career did not pan out and I was offered the little girl. I'd already gotten Maddie so Gigi went to another loving home. I saw Gigi over the years a few times and never forgot her. Recently the owner had serious health issues and opted to give the dog back to the breeder. While I was in Connecticut a few days ago for a visit with friends, I had Gigi for the day and fell in love with her all over again. She came home with me. Gigi is cute, sweet, healthy and lively. She is also NOTHING like Maddie in looks and/or temperament, which is a good thing. I never expected to look for another dog, but Gigi was meant to be mine, even nine years later. She has fit into our routine like a glove. She & Kelly are fine with one another. They will not be playmates, but will be companions in time. I'm sure of that. I feel so blessed. On 1 February 2008, Sylvia writes: It's hard to believe a year has gone by since we brought Gigi into our lives. She is one sweet, but sassy Westie. To my surprise, Gigi rules the roost over Kelly (our Golden Retriever). She thinks nothing of snatching a toy from Kelly, who seems too puzzled to know what to do about it. When I had Maddie, Kelly took EVERY opportunity to take Maddie's toys. At times it was very hard to watch. Maddie seemed fine with not putting up a fuss. NOT so with Gigi. Her toys AND Kelly's toys are hers for the taking. I know Maddie must be smiling down on that scene. Gigi is pure joy. On 12 August 2008, Sylvia writes: I have some very sad news here . . . my little Westie, Gigi, died unexpectedly a week ago. We rushed her in the middle of the night to the Emergency Vet and Gigi died in my arms as we pulled into the parking lot. We had a necropsy done which showed a tumor that had wrapped itself around the main artery to her heart causing a heart attack. To say we're devastated is an understatement. To lose Maddie after 21 long months was brutally hard, but to lose Gigi without warning has wiped us right out. We still have Kelly our Golden, but no more dogs for me.
