Puck had a visit to the vet today and we were hoping for suture removal. However, Puck still has a bulge around his anal area when he defecates, so the vet wanted to give the sutures another week. Puck is eating canned puppy food with lactulose; today we started small amounts of Fibersure® (doesn't have sugar in it) to give his stool bulk to make it easier to pass (otherwise he strains & cries).
Judging from the "looks" of things, everything seems to be working. We have to wipe his little behind to keep it very clean while it is healing. I don't know how people manage litters and live to tell about it. My husband & I are both exhausted with one puppy. This little guy pees & poos like a stegosaurus.
I was surprised when the vet informed me that he felt Puck was not NINE weeks old - more like SIX or SEVEN weeks. That makes sense since Puck is still making baby sounds when he is picked up (very cute!). He enjoys getting up at 5:00 a.m. to go potty, eat, go potty and then zoom around the kitchen like a mad man stopping only to chew on my slippers or sweatpants.
Tomorrow morning I pick up Lily & Emmaline from the vet. Lily & I will do a road trip to meet her foster mom later in the day. Emmaline will stay with me until she is seen by an opthalmologist for her cherry eye and then will go on to her foster home.
