Landed at 8:15 p.m., but by the time we were done with immigration & customs
(AA omitted to give all 147 passengers the customs form), it was 9:30 p.m.
We had transfers as part of the travel package so our ride to the hotel
was prearranged . . . taxis, not busses.

André was our driver;
apparently, speed limits in Guayaquil are more suggestion than law
and I think André was a wannabe jet pilot,
as we flew low & fast weaving in & out of traffic.

No collisions, so we arrived at the Palace Hotel
(or Hotel Palace as they have on their letterhead)
and were done checking in by 10:30.

As part of the package. we had a welcome drink included (rum punch, of course)
that was served in the "bar" - a few tables set up behind reception.

Got up and had breakfast about 7:30 a.m.: eggs,
pancakes, French toast or waffles on request.
Lots of fresh fruit, strong coffee, juice and pastries,
with a delicious pineapple-filled pastry that ReMike could not get enough of.

Cleaned up, repacked luggage and to the lobby for a 9:20 departure by taxi.
