THE HANCOCK TRIO
RACER IN WISCONSIN

26 MARCH 2011

On 27 March, Shannon Radosevich writes:

Racer is a walking skeleton . . . so sad.
We can count every rib; his butt bones are jutting out in back . . .
he was supposed to be ten months old,
but the girl who transported the dogs to me
said he was a starved young adult that just looks like a puppy
because he is so small & thin . . . but not sure about that either!
He is eating a very tiny bit every two hours;
he gulps that down (so we are giving him just a bit of rice,
lamb, high protein wet & dry dog food,
all mixed up together).
I am going to get some yogurt & cottage cheese tomorrow
and maybe some liver, as was suggested.
He is cute, friendly, sweet, loves to be held and snuggles like a champ!

The next day, Shannon writes:

So our little he . . . is a she, about nine months old (DOB 6/23/10).
I never gave it a thought . . .
Joe bathed him, thinking when he was cutting off "his" matted hair
that he had to remember to be careful around Racer's naughty bits area.
She has been renamed Stella.

She is FILLED with all the worms . . . YUCK . . . and has giardia.
She's pooping like a little trooper . . . candles are going,
air freshener is out and at arm's reach . . . oy vey, what a smell!
I will try to get some pictures tonight . . . she is a little camera shy.

Stella was adopted by Eric Sutcliffe in Wisconsin.
Her name is now Sara.

BOB ANDERSON:
THE HANCOCK TRIO underlines the reason why mill breeders and their "spin-offs" need to be outlawed!

APRIL GOES HOME

JULY 2011

On 23 July, Shell writes:

Pat Bancroft and her late husband, Dale,
adopted an owner surrender named Jazz
from CRUSA about two years ago.
Several months ago, they took in April.
Since Dale's recent passing,
April has been a great comfort to Pat & Jazz;
we are so pleased that they have decided
to make her a permanent member of their pack.

MY BAGGAGE

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
