Two Pilot whales approach the boat - we swam with them shortly after

We're just back from SWIMMING WITH PILOT WHALES!!!
No underwater pictures; they move too fast.

Ph

Right alongside the boat . . .

Ph

. . . they rode the bow wave and crossed under the boat
from side to side several times

We scoured the ocean for whale wharks;
no luck, but Jen (from WSORC -
Jon was otherwise occupied)
thought she saw dolphins. . . .
I said those look too big to be dolphins and I was right.
There were two Pilot whales;
one came right in to bow-ride the boat,
crossing underneath it several times.

Ph

. . . we swam with them shortly after;
you can see how close to the boat they came.

Capt Willy doubtfully said we could get in the water if we wanted;
about two-thirds of us did.
WE got to swim with the Pilot whale;
one passed right beneath me not more than a meter away!
They were traveling, though, and didn't want to play.

We seem to be getting closer, but still not finding the Big Guy.

Utila Lodge is the natural-wood-colored building.
My room's screen patio is marked.
