Lucas
I was just lying here with my mommy;
I don't know if what she said was true,
but if in fact, it was,
it seems I have a lot of thanking to do.
I was living in a cage
without much attention or care,
Just thinking to myself
how life wasn't very fair.
Then one day I came to the attention
of a lady named Sue,
She found out about us through CRUSA Intakes
and said, "Yes! There is something we can do."
Then there were these transport folks
named Gayle and Bob,
They drove to Missouri and loaded me up
even though I must have looked like a slob.
Although I was dirty and unkempt,
the Crotty-Merghani family
welcomed me into their home,
Monday they're taking me to the groomer
where they'll pretty me up
with scissors and comb.
Mommy told me stories
'bout a lady named Andréa
who likes to play on the world wide web.
She helped raise money for our care
and spreads the truth about breeder dogs
so no one is misled.
There is this nice lady named Shannon
who will help me if I'm sick.
She'll call the credit card into the vet;
she brings wellness,
so I'll call her the Vetting St. Nick.
My mommy also tells me stories
of this lady named Shell
and how she'll help adopt me out;
I don't really like the sound of this,
but I will wait and see what this is all about.
Tonight I am loved and warm
and I have all of you to thank
on this Merry Christmas Eve.
I would love to meet you all sometime
without this belly band,
since that is my only peeve!
Thank you for this new life
as we move into the new year.
I know it will be a life filled with love
instead of one filled with fear.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Thank you for all the work you do
to help little Cairns in need!
