MONDAY, 14 OCTOBER The waters have completely receded . . . . . . leaving behind a mess. Neal found a dead fish on our sidewalk.

MONDAY, 16 OCTOBER We made it to Publix and I saw this in the parking lot . . . Jackie I. told me she'd heard that the Publix distribution center in Lakeland, Florida, had flooded, so everything had to be driven down from the Georgia distribution center. Neal said that the shelves were pretty bare, and they remained so for several weeks. As they also lost electricity, imagine all the food that had to be thrown away! We had participated in the Great Floridian Refrigerator Cleanout, so we had to replace everything, altho not immediately.
