On Monday, we forsook the relatively clear skies of Coquitlam for fog-enshrouded Vancouver and world-famous Stanley Park. Lizzie saw nothing of the park since the mists were thick as pea soup! Abandoning the park as a lost cause, we turned to the equally famous Vancouver Aquarium where we spent most of the day examining otters, fish, anemones & other ocean oddities.
The two highlights of my Vancouver stay, sightseeing-wise, were the Irving House in New Westminster and - wow! - The Vancouver Aquarium. I've been to the aquarium at Monterey; Vancouver is nowhere near as big BUT . . . their jellyfish (plus the inadvertant hand puppet show and their British Colombia coastal exhibit were exquisite. As for the sea otters (sorry no pic here) . . . well - they are maritime Airedales, with their black noses, beady eyes and clowning ways.

We visited the attached terrarium as well and watched a sloth eating her lunch, said hello to a very pretty parrot and admired various tropical flora & fauna. | |
