LIZZIE GOES EAST

2 FEBRUARY 2009

It's hard to believe that only two weeks separated
my visits from Chicago to Connecticut . . .
Ohio greeted me with a lot of snow . . .

Tanglewood Lake (and golf course) in Bainbridge, Ohio

. . . and the beautiful Tanner & Toby

Our hosts, Bob & Lois were fantastic . . .
but, being mere humans, don't merit a photo.

Ohio is the site of my home town, Akron.
I've no death-defying pics of Akron
and, in fact, only these two:

The house where I lived until I was four years old -
only it wasn't really the house as such
because it was just the basement . . .
no house on top when I lived there in 1955

Ph

905 Alfred Road, Akron - ah, happy memories

and then the place my father caught me out on:

As some of you know only too well - I LOVE Thrift Shops (Charity shops in the UK, Op Shops or Vinnies in Oz). My father noticed this one and said not a word when I notified him of my intention of stopping and having a browse . . . only to find that they sold not secondhand clothes, toys or household goods, but only buns, bread, pies and pretzels!!!

I caught up with loads of family:
cousin Shelley & her husband Mike
(along with their Cocker, Abe) . . .

. . . who hosted a family get-together which included
a fourth-birthday party for Seth
(my first cousin twice removed for the geneologists)

Ph

Eric, Seth (birthday boy), Emma (Shelley's grandchildren)
and Nicole, Shelley's daughter
