Jazz is scheduled for her surgery tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
Shell Lewis & Shannon Radosevich located a clinic close to us
which is very rescue friendly, so we were able to have both
the bladder stone & the dental surgery done.
I want to thank all of her CRUSA fans & supporters for helping her.
What a wonderful group of caring people -
I can't express my appreciation enough for all of the help!
KATHY FALCONE
You & sweet Jazz will be in my thoughts tomorrow. Tell Jazz I'll be at my dentist at the same time - and I'll send all my good energy her way. I hope Jazz's surgery is a smooth as a John Coltrane song!
LORI NAJDZIN
Good luck, Jazz, and a speedy recovery!

Jazz is now out of surgery and resting comfortably.
They removed one bladder stone,
and luckily did not find more.
They were also able to clean her teeth and
do the dental surgery (she had at least three teeth removed).
She will be at the clinic overnight;
we pick her up tomorrow morning about 10:00 a.m.
I am sure she will win the hearts of all the people
at the clinic as she has here at our house.
Her stone will be biopsied;
she will need to be on a special diet going forward.
So she will have some recovery to go through,
but at least she will be on the upswing.
Thanks again to everyone for helping to make this happen,
and for sending your love and prayers.
PERLA CHIAFFITELLA
Such wonderful news, please give her lots of hugs & kisses from my crew & me.

Here are a couple of pictures of Jazz when we
picked her up this morning from the clinic.
The people at the clinic did not want to let her go home!
They simply loved her and remarked on her even, sunny disposition
and her love of everyone who worked with her -
they thought she would be a great clinic mascot!!
She had no complaints about anything that was done.
Anne & Joanne, two of the wonderful vet techs.
Joanne is the one holding Jazz.
Her vets were Dr. Maves & Dr. Holmstrand.
We are so grateful for the wonderful care & TLC
that she received while there.
She is now home lying on her pillow,
resting from the removal of the bladder stone
AND the removal of 15 (yes, that's 15!) teeth.
I never saw such terrible teeth in my life -
they were totally rotted. She is in a bit of pain,
but still perky & responsive. In a couple of days
I am sure she will be back to her old self.

We understand it may be a few days before the frequent urination
& the straining shows improvement,
but we think she is already asking to go out less often,
so that is a start! Most importantly, we are looking
forward to her feeling better very soon!!
She came home with some new food - Royal Canin s/o,
an antibiotic & a drug to help her strain less while urinating.
On 27 October, Marilyn writes:
I wanted to update you on Jazz,
who had surgery to remove her bladder stone a little over a week ago,
along with extensive dental surgery where several teeth were extracted.
She had a few rocky days at first,
but never lost her sweetness or gentleness.
We knew the recovery from this surgery can be difficult,
but we were not expecting her to urinate
so much more frequently than she had before -
sometimes she was going at least nine times during one session outside,
and then ready to go out in an hour to do it again!
The vet thought this was due to irritation
of the bladder after surgery along with some spasms,
so we are now giving her Deramaxx short-term
(just started that this Tuesday).
You will all be happy to know that right now
is urinating almost like a normal dog!
So her recovery from the first few days to now has really been miraculous.
Her recovery from the dental surgery has also taken the same course.
It is as if she never had it!
She is wagging her tail all the time,
eating every bite of her new food with gusto,
and her beautiful black eyes are truly sparkling.
I can't say enough about our wonderful
CRUSA friends for sending your donations,
and your thoughts & prayers.
BRENDA ISAACS:
YIPPPEEEEE for Jazz.
Kisses to her and hugs to you for taking care of this baby girl.
