ST. JOE GOES HOME

Petey (f/k/a St.Joe) went to his new home on Friday. The whole Nosek family came for a meet & greet on Monday and it was love at first sight for all. They had some reservations because they have Shiba-Inu Pablo and they wanted to make sure this was going to work out . . . and it did. Their family vacation was planned for this week, so we kept "the baby" for a few more days until they got back.

Joey's new family consists of mom Teri, dad John,
Luke who is eight, Griffin who is five and of course Pablo.
The boys were so good with him and handled him like pros.

Teri does fostering and is on the Board of the Shibu-Inu Rescue.
I had originally done their reference checks when they
applied for another one of our dogs, which wasn't
a good fit with their Pablo. I had ended my check by stating,
". . . any dog that gets this family is going to be one
lucky little dog . . . this is what we dream for our dogs".
Little did I know it would be St. Joe going to them!
Talk about one lucky little boy! While I will miss him,
and I truly will, another dog has found a fantastic home
to live in forever . . . and our home is open to take in
another! Can't get any better than this!

I want to thank you again for choosing us to be Joey's family. As each hour has passed today, I find myself getting more and more excited that he is OUR boy. I just can't believe how wonderful he is! He's sooooo good!

He whimpered a bit in the car as we were pulling out of the drive. He has had a fun day, but I think he's been missing you a bit. He's settling in nicely though. And he & Pablo are getting along fabulously! No issues whatsoever! The kids had fun playing with him all day and I think he's quite worn out now. He's sitting in my lap as I type. I'm going to wait another half hour or so and have John take him out one last time, and then it will be off to bed. I bought him a fleecey bed like the one he was on in some of the photos you sent me. Maybe that will make him feel comfy on his first night here, along with his blanket. And if he potties in his crate . . . they're both washable. ;-) His tummy was definitely bothering him this afternoon but hopefully the worst of that has passed. I'll talk to the vet about it tomorrow, but of course that is so common when a dog is making this transition. Maybe tomorrow I will cook him up a bit of rice.

Thanks again for everything, Shannon. We so appreciate it!

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
