MIA GOES SOUTH . . .

. . . AND HOME

28 APRIL 2010

Kea

Shannon writes:

Mia went home today with her new mom & dad, Cheryl & Bob Frommelt in Illinois. Once she got home, she met her human brothers who are 8, 10 & 13. Miss Kea got all the things that I wanted for her: a stay-at home-mom, a huge fenced-in yard, kids to play with and a new fur brother to romp & run with!

Cheryl & Bob also adopted Micky. [Micky is one of the 12 CAIRNS OF CHRISTMAS; his story can be read HERE.] When they were filling out the application to adopt, they had shown an interest in Micky and were so willing to "take him on". Then they saw Kea and wanted her too . . . what to do? OK, we'll take both of them! And they did.

I got an email from Cheryl last night saying Mia (that's her new name) has hit the ground running; pottying outside three times and running the fence line with Wilson, the next-door Cairn. She's giving lots of kisses and turning over for belly rubs all the time! The kids are thrilled!! She also said that Micky is doing much better than they thought he would. He came out of his crate after only 15 minutes and did some exploring, sniffing, checking out the kids and playing with Mia. He also licked Cheryl's hand several times! Way to go, Micky.

As I told Cheryl, this is bittersweet for Joe & me, and for Colleen, too, I bet . . . we're so sad to see them leave, but so happy they have a fantastic new home to be loved in! And I'm sure there is another one waiting right around the corner to be loved and cared for!

On 29 April, Cheryl writes:

It has been an exciting 24 hours. Driving to Milwaukee & back, bringing our two newest members of our family home. My three boys are in love! (and we are too).

It is so good to feel the unconditional love you get from a kiss on the hand or a wag of a tail.

So, many thanks for all at CRUSA who helped make this possible for our family!

On 21 August, the Frommelt family began fostering Kaiser2;
Shell Lewis sent along this picture of the entire family:

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
