Black Airedale in NEED
I'm writing about a not-really-Airedale dog that has touched my heart deeply. The dog is in Hawaii. He was likely caught in a trap and somehow got out - causing major damage to his leg. He weighs only 33 pounds. Also has wounds on his neck. Despite his condition, he is sweet and kind and happy. He is walking around the shelter on three legs following the vet everywhere.
He cannot be treated at his current local. It is rural and there is no veterinarian surgeon. The vet believes that his best chance for survival is to be airlifted to the mainland for treatment. He will be euthanized this week, otherwise.
I have been working on this case since last Wednesday. Everyone including the vet called him an Airedale. I just found out that he is all black, save a little white on his chest. He doesn't meet the requirements to be a National Airedale Rescue dog.
Does anyone have any ideas about getting this dog to safety and soon? What is really needed is a foster home that can care for him through the leg repair or amputation. If we can find a foster home, I will somehow find the money.
Through my work in Rescue I have seen many dogs with many stories. This one is breaking my heart. He has worked so hard to live. Imagine a 33-pound Airedale that should weigh 60. He is so close to safety.
I'd really appreciate any ideas that any person or group may have.

It is Tuesday morning about 7:30. There have been many positive developments in the case of the black Airedale in need of help.
I'm happy to say that Connie Turner has offered to foster & rehab this boy and Evie Fieseler has offered him a forever home. Joey Finneran has offered to pay his aire-fare.
I am also starting to hear from caring people who are offering financial support for his surgery and treatment. Once everything is arranged, I will provide appropriate addresses to make these much-needed donations.
Several other people have offered expertise with black Airedales, injured dogs, and rehabbing dogs with amputations. Please know that I will be in touch as the case progresses.
I plan to write a full report later this afternoon after I have spoken to the Humane Society and the vet this morning. Stay tuned for further developments.
Once again, I am amazed by the kindness of the friends in the greater Airedale community. Thank you all!
